San Francisco 49ers

One of the most successful NFL teams with five Super Bowl victories, the San Francisco 49ers joined the AAFC as charter member in 1946 and the NFL in 1950 when the two leagues merged. The 1980s and early 1990s was their most successful period with Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, Steve Young and Jerry Rice all being great players of that period. Since formation the 49ers have been very successful, with five Conference Championships, 17 Division Championships and 23 Playoff appearances. Unfortunately the last few years have not been as successful.

The 49ers play home games at the iconic Candlestick Park, but only for the next three years with the new stadium due in 2015. The Stick was first built in 1960 for the San Francisco Giants MLB team, who played there until 2000. This 69,000 capacity stadium was also the venue for the last live concert by the Beatles in 1966.
