Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins originally joined the AFL in 1966 when it expanded into regions that did not have a professional team, making them the oldest continuous sports franchise in Florida. After the leagues merged in 1970, the Dolphins had a successful spell with a losing appearance in Super Bowl VI in 1971 before recording the first and perfect season in 1972 in winning Super Bowl VII and then going on to win Super Bowl VIII in 1973. Two further Super Bowls ended in defeat for the Dolphins. In 26 seasons of coaching Miami, Don Shula was the most successful head coach ever in terms of total games won. Another Dolphins legend is Dan Marino who was one of the best passers in NFL history. Over the years, the Miami Dolphins have been victorious in two Super Bowls, as well as five Conference Championships, 14 Division Championship and 22 Playoff Appearances.

The Sun Life Stadium is the home of the Miami Dolphins. This 75,000 capacity stadium is also home to the Miami Dolphins, the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Florida Marlins baseball team. The Orange Bowl plays here, as well as five Super Bowls, two World Series and numerous other big sporting events.
