Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are the newest members of the NFL, joining as an expansion team in 2002 after the Houston Oilers franchise moved to Nashville to become the Tennessee Titans. They picked the nickname after an online vote that had 65,000 responses in just one week. In their first season, the Houston Texans had four victories. They are still looking for their first major success on the field, and have still to reach the end of season playoffs. Their best season and only one so far to end with a winning record, was in 2009 when they finished 2^nd in the AFC South division with a 9-7 record.

The Houston Texans play all their home games at the Reliant Stadium, the first stadium in the NFL to have a retractable roof. It opened in August 2002, and has a capacity of 71,500 for football games. As well as being home of the Texans, the Reliant Stadium is the home of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Texas Bowl and has previously been the host venue for Super Bowl XXXVIII and Westlemania XXV. Reliant Stadium is part of Reliant Park, which also has another four venues. These are Caruth Plaza, Reliant Center, Reliant Arena and Reliant Astrodome, the former home of the Houston Astros MLB team.
