Detroit Lions

Originally from Portsmouth, Ohio the Detroit Lions started life in 1929 as the Portsmouth Spartans and joined the NFL in 1930. After a struggle to survive financially in the Great Depression, the team moved to Detroit in 1934. Although the Lions have four NFL Championships to their name, their last was in 1957 giving them the second longest drought in the NFL behind the Arizona Cardinals. They are one of only four current NFL teams still to reach the Super Bowl and in 2008 became the first team to lose all 16 regular games. In addition to the League Championships, the Detroit Lions have also won four Division Championships and have 14 Playoff appearances to their name.

Ford Field is the home of the Detroit Lions. This indoor stadium opened in 2002 and seats up to 70,000 for football. The design of the stadium includes Hudson’s warehouse, which dates back to the 1920s and is six-storey high. Ford Field was the host venue for Super Bowl XL in 2006 and Wrestlemania 23.
