Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns started life in 1946 as a charter member of the AAFC which then merged with the NFL in 1950. Since they started the Cleveland Browns have won four AAFC Championships and four NFL Championships, as well as 11 Conference Championships and 13 Division Championships, but are one of only four teams that have yet to play in the Super Bowl. Controversially in 1995 the owner (Art Modell) decided to move the franchise to Baltimore to form the Baltimore Ravens, but the history and stadium stayed with the Cleveland Browns who rejoined the NFL in 1999.

The Cleveland Browns play their home games at the Cleveland Browns Stadium, which opened in 1999 on the site of the previous Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Ironically, one of the reasons for the move to Baltimore was the City’s reluctance to refurbish the original stadium, but the rebuild was part of the deal to keep the team in Cleveland. The rubble from the old stadium is now an artificial reef in Lake Erie.
