Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons joined the NFL in 1965 as an expansion team in a bid to stop the franchise joining the rival AFL. When the two leagues merged the Falcons joined the NFL. With an overall record of 298-402-6 over 45 seasons, the Falcons have not been the most successful team, but have won four Division Championships and ten Playoff appearances. The highlight of their history was a losing appearance in Super Bowl XXXIII at the end of the 1998 season.

The Falcons play their games at the Georgia Dome, which until 1999 was the largest domed structure in the world. The Dome is also the home of the Georgia State Panthers. Construction was finished in 1992, and surprisingly it is the 11^th oldest arena in the NFL. Georgia Dome host venue to two Super Bowls and the Sugar Bowl in 2006 when Hurricane Katrina damaged the Louisiana Superdome. During the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the Georgia Dome was host venue to basketball and gymnastics.
